Waiting for my Dear John Letter...

hey y'all !! it's already my second p day in the mtc and i've already missed the first email so we will see how well 18 months go 

shockingly, the Online MTC has been AMAZING. I honestly considered postponing my mission or even cancelling it due to "missing out on the experience" but I am SO happy that I didnt !! Sometimes you just have to suck it up and do the hard things and the Lord will compensate for your efforts. But in my opinion, you still get the full experience. The spirit is still so strong through technology and zoom!! I am extremely busy with studies, workshops, TRCS, and spending every minute with my district. My district has 8 elders and 4 sisters and we are quite the group. We honestly have so much fun because there are so many different personalities. One of the elders took it upon themselves to give us all food names too. Mine is Sister Lays Chips because of 'finLAYSon' and I thought that was super creative hahaha! My companion is Sister O'steen and she is amazing! She is from Roberts, ID and is also called to serve in the Canada Calgary Mission with me. 

but more importantly than all of this is the spirit that can be felt so strongly! It's amazing to be able to have the Holy Ghost as a constant companion and to learn by the spirit. Something I learned in a workshop this week was about 'Understanding Others'. During the lesson, they showed us pictures of people and asked us to share our observations. When they came across the photo of an Amish family traditionally dressed standing in front of one of our temples my initial thought was that they were just admiring or visiting our temple. But the story behind the picture is that the 'Amish family' are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They secretly met with missionaries because they would have been shunned by their community. The father read the Book of Mormon and knew that this church was true. He knew by following the Lord's will he would have to go through trials and tribulations, but followed in faith anyways. His family has been baptized but still follow the traditional clothing of the Amish out of respect for his extended family. This impressed me because I think about the sacrifices that many of us make, in order to have a relationship with God. I also wanted to point out that our quick observations can lead to incorrect assumptions. They encouraged each of us to look through God's loving eyes and see people's potential rather than current situation. 

and now you're all probably wondering about my subject lol !! but I have been so anxious and anticipating my 'Dear John letter' (as my mom calls it) from the church/Canada. My teachers have told me to expect a reassignment soon so I'm just patiently waiting for that moment of heartache haha but I know wherever I am sent I am happy to serve the Lord.

    So proud of you neice, through the decisions you have made to serve a mission and learning the the truths through study sacrifice and faith and trust seeing the lord's hand in all things you will find joy and strength as you serve your mission. We love you , we pray for you . Kia kaha aunty xx

Pushin Through!

TALOFFFAAA!  it was a pretty alright week. I was really ran down into the ground aka exhausted from the week prior. My body really gave out on me & I got sick for a few days so I was out of the work for a second. But I'm back, lively as ever lol! This week was really hard honestly. On top of being sick, I found out one of the families I am close with from Long Beach, the dad is on his death bed. I struggled knowing this but God really pulled me thru. It was everything to me to be reminded of His wonderful plan of salvation. I am a fan of public speaking so :) but I was very stressed. Absence

The clock strikes 12:47am. My companions rush hurriedly to the door. I make my way down the stairs, trying not to fall asleep. As I felt the cool air brush against my face, I pull my blanket to me, angrily mumbling. I stare at the asphalt covered in droplets of rain but when I eyes revert to whats ahead of me, I deeply longed to go back in time 20 seconds prior. My heart sunk deep in my stomach as if it was the titanic. I look to my phone and the word 'absence' appeared as my daily common word from the Word Web app. I chuckled at how ironic this vocabulary applied to my very situation in the moment.   Our car was absent.   We won't go into detail but we actually found our car hahah after like 20 mins, we are just dumb ! I actually laughed so hard when I saw the word absence though because I truly felt called out by my own phone haha. But it was a wild adventure... I got to spend the night at some sisters apartment on the hardwood floor. Got 3 hours of sleep with a 6 hour me...

Saviors light

Hi everyone ! This is such a late email, but I just wanted to send a quick letter home !!  This week was, as always, full of miracles. I witnessed God's hand & promises unfold as this week we really dedicated ourselves to His work. Well, we had no choice BUT to do His work this week lol. I am in the best ward ever !! They are all so missionary minded && keep us very, very accountable. I am stressed, anxious, exhausted, but never has time felt so fast & joyful. Every night I'd get about 4 hours ( IF I WAS LUCKY ) of sleep. One day I was up for 21 hours just doing work & it was the most energized I felt all week. I look back on this week truly shocked. Because no way could I have done what we did without the Lord strengthening & enabling me !! Our Samoan ward has 522 members plus our Tongan ward has 200 - 300 ish members. SO, we made it a goal to meet everybody in both wards. In addition to that, the stake president asked if we could invite members on ever...
